Hiking Girona Catalonia Puigsacalm
The Puigsacalm, with its 1,514 meters height, is one of the highest peaks in the region of La Garrotxa and Osona, regions separated by the "plain of Vic" and by the Vall d'en Bas.
Its location gives this peak spectacular views that, on a clear day, allows you to see the Bay of Roses, Pedraforca, Serra del Cadí, Canigó, Puigmal, El Montseny and Montserrat and, obviously, the natural park of the volcanic area located at our feet.
It is not surprising that Puigsacalm is defined as the "balcony of La Garrotxa".
The orography, the sun and the climate provide a varied and exuberant vegetation full of holm oaks, oaks and beech of great landscape value.
The Puigsacalm can be climbed from different places such as Sant Privat d'en Bas, Joanetas, but it is necessary to face a steep slope of more than 1000 meters. In this case we will go up from the Coll de Bracons. Smoother climb, more bearable and with half the slope. Ideal for all audiences, with a minimum physical condition.
We will leave the coll de Bracons and we will gradually step onto uneven terrain. Discovering narrow paths, but good walking, among beech trees will make us enjoy the colors (ideal to climb in autumn with the fall of the leaf) as well as the native flora and fauna. Leaving the Tornadissa fountain behind, we will begin to see significant peaks of the Pyrenees such as Pedraforca. From here again walking among beeches along paths of little slope, we will find the last climb, where we will soon reach the summit of Puigsacalm.
SEASON: This activity takes place throughout the year with exception the summer months, because of the excessive heat.
DIFFICULTY: Beginner / Advanced – Contains a 480 meters slope.

EQUIPMENT: Comfortable warm clothes (depending on the time of year), sneakers, backpack (to carry water or the clothes we take off due to heat), water (ideal 1 liter per person), energy bars, fruit, nuts or what you want to eat and regain strength.
