Hiking Girona Catalonia Sant Miquel
Adventure Girona takes you hiking a route within the city of Girona, but in its natural environment. An environment perfectly harmonized with the city and which, in turn, makes seem that civilization is far away.
The castle of Sant Miquel is one of the itineraries of the city. It is a fortification located right at the top of the mountain.
The architectural complex or the one that remains of it, a moat, a chapel and some castle wall, help us to get an idea of the importance of the castle in the Middle Ages, especially for the panoramic view it offers, which gives it a point of impressive strategy: 360 degree panoramic view that reaches the entire Costa Brava from Pals, the entire Pyrenees, les Guilleries, Montseny, the Gironès plain and les Gavarres NW, with its culminating point of Puig Alt (Sant Marti vell, with Santuari dels Àngels).
The climb to the castle from the Sant Daniel valley is well known and busy. It is a route that is characterized by having 550 meters of unevenness, so it is required to be used to walking.
Once we leave the church of Sant Feliu we will enter the Valley of Sant Daniel following the course of the Galligants river until we reach the Benedictine monastery of Sant Daniel. Then we will take the Sant Miquel path that will give us a landscape of forests, crops and old farmhouses. We will also pass in front of the sculpture called "El llindar d'Europa".
Without leaving this path, we will reach the top, where the Sant Miquel castle is. A space with splendid views. On the way back, we can stop at the well-known El Ferro fountain and savour its characteristic taste of metal.
SEASON: This activity takes place throughout the year with exception the summer months, because of the excessive heat.
DIFFICULTY: Beginner – Contains a 300 meters slope.

PARKING: 5 minutes from the meeting point. Participants will follow the guide's car in theirs.
DURATION: 4 hours from when we meet until we say goodbye.
EQUIPMENT: Comfortable warm clothes (depending on the time of year), sneakers, backpack (to carry water or the clothes we take off due to heat), water (ideal 1 liter per person), energy bars, fruit, nuts or what you want to eat and regain strength.
